For lovers of the sea, art and the most adventurous experiences, Lanzarote keep a secret under its waters: the Atlantic Museuma gallery of sculptures submerged in the Atlantic Ocean.
Located a short distance by boat from the port of Blanca Playathis submarine museum is one of the few existing in the world and the Unique in Europe. Designed by the British artist Jason deCaires Taylor, opened its “doors” in 2017 with the aim of Merge art, environmental awareness and marine life In a completely immersive environment.
The Atlantic Museum extends over an area of 2,500 square meters, to one depth that ranges between 10 and 14 meters. For this reason, the organizers insist that visitors maintain a respectful behaviorwithout touching the sculptures or disturbing marine fauna.
Can I dive be a beginner?
But the most striking thing is that access to the museum is not limited to certified divers. Those who have never diving can also participate, provided that previously completed the Padi Discover Scuba Divening program in Playa Chica. This initiation course allows the basic aspects of diving in shallow waters, up to a depth of 6 meters. Once finished successfully, the participants are ready to immerse themselves in the Atlantic Museum and reach a depth of up to 12 meters under professional supervision.
