Peruvian architect obtains recognition in international competition with proposal that connects Huacas de Lima

Víctor Castro Hinostroza, young architect graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Arts (FAUA) of the National Engineering University (UNI)he obtained place in the Great Architecture Contest, organized by the British Embassy in Peru.

The contest called participants throughout South , under the challenge of reinterpreting icons of British architecture and adapting them to local urban contexts. Competition sought to innovation with cultural sensitivity and sustainability.

The proposal presented by Castro was titled Huaca Park, and took as reference the Crystal greenhouse Designed by British architect Norman Foster, located in Wales. From this structure, Castro proposed an urban intervention that connects two pre -Hispanic huacas of Lima, creating a new recreational with community approach.

The design incorporates bamboo, Artisanal fabrics and botanical gardens, articulated in a network of spaces that seek to revitalize the heritage environment. The proposal was raised as a green axis that invites the tour, contemplation and the encounter, in the midst of an increasingly fragmented urban landscape.

Castro’s initiative was recognized for its innovative use of ecological materials, its articulation with archaeological heritage and its ability to propose new forms of urban coexistence. The inclusion of woven nets manually responds both sustainability criteria As a local identity, generating a visual narrative that unites past and present.

The project was conceived as an urban bridge, not only between two archaeological sites, but also between generations and lifestyles. Thus, the proposal challenges the traditional limits of Lima urbanism and raises a different way of inhabiting spaces with historical load.

As reported, Castro met the contest through Digital platformsand decided to participate motivated by his interest in sustainable architecture and his desire to project proposals from Peru to the outside. The proposal Huaca Park It will be exposed together with other selected projects, as part of a sample organized by the British embassy, ​​which seeks to encourage dialogue between tradition and modernity in urban design.

The intervention imagined by Castro responds to a context where cities must rethink not only from the infrastructure, but also from memory and the relationship with the natural environment. In that sense, the architecture It becomes a medium to tend bridges: between ruins and gardens, between the ancestral and the possible.
