Madrid becomes this week, once again, in a meeting point for collectors, curious and art lovers with The third edition of Standarte, the Fair boutique that seeks to balance the exhibition rigor with a close and human experience. From tomorrow, May 8 until Sunday 11, the Carlos de Antwerp Foundation hosts a careful selection of six first level galleries, exhibiting master pieces of artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Joaquín Sorolla, Antoni Tàpies, Diego Rivera or Alexander Calder.
The proposal could not be clearer: quality before what quantity, dialogue between modernity and contemporaneity, and a manifest will to attract both the experienced collector and the occasional visitor. “Standarte is a selection that speaks of quality, own look and passion for art,” summarizes Mercè Camps, founder and commissioner of the project with his sister Oti.
In this edition, they join for the first time four galleries with solid international prestige: Astarloa, Bim Heritage, Lorenart and Mayoral. They do it with works that encapsulate different ways of understanding the recent history of art, from the fantastic symbolism of Salvador Dalí until the vibrant expressiveness of Carmen Laffón. Among the outstanding works, is the sculpture space Venus of Dalí, one of the most unique pieces of the entire fair, and the painting 1+3 of Antoni Tàpieswhich embodies the matric-poetic power of Spanish informalism.
The gallery LorenartFor its part, it presents Women bathing in the river of Francisco Iturrinoan oil where the color unfolds with sensual freedom, while Bim Heritage proposes a dialogue between tradition and modernity with a diverse selection that connects generations.
Together with these new additions, they repeat participation Two heavyweights of the Spanish market: J. Bagot and Jordi Pascual. The first strong commitment to names with international projection such as Calder and Diego Rivera – with their iconic Peasant portrait with pointed hatof clear muralist roots – while Pascual offers postwar art jewelry such as the Table (4) of Manolo Millares and the expressive Nº 271 of Luis Feito, both representatives of a visceral and historical abstraction.
The selection – more than 150 works in total – It is articulated not as a sample of great names, but as an emotional and intuitive tour, with special attention to aesthetic values and the possibility of real acquisition. In this sense, Standarte does not seek to imitate the models of macroferias as an arc, but to offer a friendly, immersive and unpretentious elitist format, where the visitor can stop, talk and – why not – let himself be seduced by a work for his personal collection.
But Standarte is not limited to the art that hangs from the walls. The fair also bets on complete sensory experience. Every afternoon, attendees will be able to enjoy a tasting of the Rioja wines offered by the Cornelio Dinastía wineryadding to the visual route a taste dimension that redoubles the warmth of the environment. “Art is contemplated, but also celebrated,” jokes Camps, underlining the festive and shared component of the appointment.
The space chosen for this third edition, the Carlos de Antwerp Foundation (Claudio Coello Street, 99), reinforces that Vocation of Meeting. With its diaphanous, central and cozy architecture, it allows direct contact with the works and the gallery owners, far from the cold or overwhelming environments of the great fair enclosures.
Standarte will open its doors from Thursday to Saturday in uninterrupted schedule from 11.30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., while Sunday will close at 5 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Foundation itself, with all the details available in the web official and on your Instagram account. In a year marked by market polarization between mastodontic fairs and experimental microevents, Standarte consolidates its intermediate place: a manageable, proximity fair, with commercial muscle but without losing the vocation of aesthetic enjoyment. A commitment determined by art as a place of meeting, beauty and discovery.
