After four years unraveling the complex issues of economics, finance and businesses for social networks, the three co -founders of economy for pipol, A digital media on social networks, Valerie Cifuentes, María Camila González and Angélica Gómez They launch their book ‘Economy for Pipol: Quiet manual to handle money’ with Penguin Random House, next Saturday, May 3 at 2:30 pm, in the great D of Filbo 2025.
Valerie Cifuentes and María Camila González, who now run the digital media, tell that this book is a new space to transcend of what they do on social networks and reach the “Pipol in another way, reach new audiences”says Cifuentes, who today is a creative director of Economics for Pipol and was also a journalist of the Portafolio newspaper between 2019 and 2020.
The book includes the premise that united these three young journalists four years ago: bringing people economic and financial discussions that seem complex in a simple language. It has eight chapters where people ask themselves: Why do we pay taxes? Where do they come from? Are we going to pension ourselves? What is happening with the pension system? What does the economy have to do with climate change? Why are there so many inequalities in the country? Why do we win the salary we earn?

“Economy for Pipol was born in April 2021 in full national unemployment, at a time when there was a lot of misinformation and we saw that although we worked in traditional media we did not achieve reaching the people who did not know about economics, but we talked to the same as they were in power And we wanted to break with that, ”says María Camila, executive director and who also worked In the Editorial House El Tiempo for almost six years And she is also graduated from the School of Multimedia Journalism.
