The Universidad del Norte made the official launch of the second edition of the book Why did the Caribbean coast lose the twentieth century?, Written by rector Adolfo Meisel Rocawhich now includes five new essays, three of which are unpublished: one about cattle exports to Cuba from the Colombian Caribbean between 1899-1906, another on the regional GDP of 1846 and one about the Colombian-German Society of Air Transport (Scadta).

The work, printed by the Uninorte publishing house, addresses in 15 chapters and essays two main themes: The formation of the Colombian Caribbean economy in the seventeenth centuryI and some of the reasons for The growing economic lag of the region throughout the twentieth century.
“The question of this book leads us to explore what are the historical causes of the delay of the Colombian Caribbean, an issue of deep relevance. The historians of the new generations have wanted to show that there are objective causes for the lag of the region,” Meisel Roca explained.
