“This is a book in which the various facets are narrated in which the creative genius of Gabriel García Márquez was expressed. From literature, cinema and journalism, to advertising, music, history, gastronomy, institutional ventures, the defense of human rights, education and political and cultural integration of Latin America. Of each of these facets there are reflections to understand, in an original way, the problems of the problems occur. XX and XXI, ”said Orlando Oliveros to El Universal.
The stories that make up the first half of the book have been elaborated, for the most part, from the Gabo Foundation Archive, one of the most complete bibliographic collections about the life, work and legacy of Gabriel García Márquez.
For this reason, each article provides new and unsuspected data to the vast existing bibliography about García Márquez.
Although it is a book written with a lot of investigative rigor, the author has tried to tell fresh and innovative stories, faithful to that Garciamarquean slogan of journalism, which says that it is not enough to inform, but also to know how to narrate. The work of exploring García Márquez’s different ‘faces’ charges a special relevance if one realizes that in 2027 one hundred years of the birth of the Colombian Nobel Prize will be completed. ” Lea: 11 years without Gabriel García Márquez: The student who few knows
The inexhaustible creative wealth of García Márquez
Orlando Oliveros believes that Gabo is an inexhaustible author, “of which something new and important can always be said in each decade, not only because of the complexity of its narrative universe, also because each new generation of readers claims their own reflections and adjusts them to its cultural context. In that sense, this book aims to understand García Márquez since the 21st century and take advantage of the legacy of the Colombian writer to better understand the issues of this era.”
