05-May-2025. The Department of Culture presents the exhibitions of the ‘Pablo Ruiz Picasso’ Cultural Center during the month of May:
‘IX Sample of Books Object and Artist’
The IX Sample of Books object and artist is an exhibition that has as its main reason the book, and this year the theme chosen is ‘Music’.
Based on this topic, participating artists will present their works, made in different shapes, sizes and colors. Although he has also given them the freedom to work with other issues.
About 40 artists participate, with works carried out with diverse techniques.
The exhibition can be seen in the Picasso Sala from May 5 to June 8. The inauguration will take place on Friday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m.
‘The world of flower and the willow’
The world of geishas is commonly called ‘the world of flower and willow. Thus, every geisha is, in essence, beautiful as a flower and, at the same time, elegant, flexible and strong like a willow. The Geishas move within their own districts, called ‘Hanmachi’, which literally means ‘City of Flowers’.
The agitated nightlife of the big cities or the quiet rural life of the Japanese Alps, for example, configure scenes of great contrasts that the artist Marta Trueba could discover and photograph.
For the Japanese, the term ‘Kachofugesu’, whose meaning is ‘flower, bird, wind and moon’, refers to the unique beauty of all the elements of nature and artistic inspiration that always give us.
The artist presents a series photographs taken by her and that are the ones that produce ‘Kachofugesu’, aware that it is only about stopping, observing and photographing.
Marta Trueba He began to be interested a few years ago to immortalize the moments he found daily and that transmitted some feeling. That, along with his fondness to travel, makes each trip full of immortal memories that hope they will last beyond their protagonists, whether landscapes or people.
For a long time he dreamed of traveling to Japan, and it was thanks to literature and authors such as Mishima, Kawabata or Nakamura, among others, who could feel that he was closer to the Japanese country, his culture and his people. Finally, in 2023, he managed to make the trip a reality, which allowed him to photograph many details that this wonderful country gave him.
The sample, which collects about forty photographs, can be seen in the lobby of the
May 7 to June 3.
