The Chinese Embassy donated 300 books to Bibroed in Filbo 2025, strengthening cultural cooperation with Bogotá

In a protocol event held on Tuesday, May 6 at the Virgilio Barco Public Library, The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Colombia delivered a significant donation of 300 books and audiovisual materials to the District Network of Public Libraries of Bogotá (Biblired), within the framework of the Bogotá Book Fair (Filbo) 2025.

The donation includes a diverse of works that cover From classical Chinese literature to artistic and cultural manifestations essential to understand the richness of Chinese tradition.

With this, Bibroed users can access books about mythology, popular poetry of Han dynasties, calligraphy, painting, Sculpture, and artisanal traditions, offering an integral vision of China’s artistic and cultural legacy.

Among the titles are studies on popular poetry, which reflect the life and customs of the Chinese people in key historical times, as well as texts dedicated to calligraphy, considered in China not only as a writing but as a deep aesthetic expression.

In fact, this collection will allow Bogota readers to explore new literary and cultural perspectives, Enriching the Biblored collection with content that promotes understanding and cultural diversity.

In addition, the event was attended by prominent figures in the academic and literary field, among them the Chinese academic He Jiahong, recognized for his contributions in jurisprudence, rights and black novel; the criminologist Orlando Patiño Meza; the Colombian writer Esteban emphapié, a specialist in police novels; and Juan Alberto Conde, Professor of Literary Studies and Edition of the University Jorge Tadeo Lozano. For his part, Santiago Trujillo Escobar, Secretary of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Bogotá, highlighted the symbolic and practical value of the donation: “A donation is an act of generosity, conviction, cooperation and brotherhood.
