Odata has inaugurated the first building of its QR03 campus in Querétaro, marking a milestone in Mexico’s technological infrastructure. Located in the Pyme Industrial Park in Querétaro, the Campus, with an investment of 3,000 million dollars, is projected to reach a capacity of 300 MW of IT. The construction covers an area of almost 275 thousand square meters and includes five buildings in total.
The first building, already operational, is part of a comprehensive plan that contemplates reaching a total capacity of 72 MW of IT by the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. This first phase of operations begins with 24 MW of IT, distributed in four data halls of 6 MW each. The main objective is to respond immediately to the growth in the demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence solutions.
As part of the plan, Odata already has the space for a second twin building, also with a projected capacity of 72 MW of IT, whose construction is scheduled for the 2027-2028 period.
By virtue of a strategic alliance with AMMPER, supplier of energy solutions – who has supported the development of electrical infrastructure of the SME Park -, a second stage of expansion will be carried out that will add 200 MW of electrical capacity to the project, reaching a total of 400 MW. This will allow climbing the campus to a load capacity of approximately 300 MW of IT in the next four years, consolidating QR03 as one of the largest data centers in the region.
In February 2025, Odata successfully energized 200 MW during the first phase of campus development, facing one of the main challenges of the country: the historical lag of the electricity grid against technological demand. With the expansion towards the 400 MW already underway, this investment represents a crucial solution to the problem of electricity supply for data centers in Mexico, particularly in Querétaro.
“With three key hyperscala clients already committed, QR03 is a consolidated and highly connected campus, in addition to a crucial interconnection center for Querétaro and Mexico,” said Ricardo Alário, executive director of Odata. “With great capacity and a solid presence of important cloud suppliers and IA, we anticipate that this campus will play a fundamental role in the development of Mexico’s digital infrastructure.”
It is estimated that the operation will generate around 50 direct jobs per building, in addition to between 50 and 100 indirect jobs from customers and suppliers that occupy offices temporarily or perform maintenance tasks. During the construction stage, the project came to use more than 3,000 workers at its maximum point.
Odata highlights the transformative impact of this development, not only as a technological motor, but also as a infrastructure detonator. The QR03 campus is already promoting the expansion of fiber optic networks and other telecommunications facilities in the area. In addition, its direct contribution to the national GDP is highlighted by impulse to the technological and energy sectors.
A key aspect of development has been its role as an industrial catalyst. Before Odata’s arrival, the SME Park lacked access to electricity due to the lack of transmission infrastructure. Thanks to the strong investment of the company, the park was energized, making Odata an anchor and allowing the development of other industrial projects in the area.
This is not the first case in which Odata acts as an energy facilitator. In Brazil, the company has participated as a partner in wind generation projects, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and collaborative development. “We define ourselves as protagonists of this energy revolution,” said a spokesman for the company, underlining Odata’s pioneering role in the region and his commitment to continue exploring new opportunities in the Bajío.
“This externality allows us to justify the investment in new electrical infrastructure, not only of transmission. In Brazil, for example, we made a similar movement to generation: there we are partners in a wind farm. So, in addition to using the energy generated for our operation, we facilitate infrastructure that also benefits others, as happened with the PyM Datacenterdynamics.
The inauguration of the first QR03 campus building not only represents an advance in data infrastructure, but also a strategic commitment to regional development, energy innovation and shared economic growth.
On the expansion plans in other regions of Mexico, Caram emphasizes that there are always possibilities, but for now the approach is in Querétaro. “The fact that we were first moversit really allowed us to differentiate ourselves. There are other projects announced, but we already have four data centers in operation here. This is the third, and the room will be ready in a few months. He is currently under construction, but will soon be in the test phase. For now, the plan is to consolidate our presence in Querétaro, although we continue to evaluate other regions, ”concludes the Executive.
