Samsung’s QLED televisions are certified for compliance with International Quantum Dot screen standards. The certification highlights Samsung’s commitment to the innovation and quality of its screens
Samsung Electronics announced today that its last line of QLED televisions has received the certification ‘Real Quantum Dot Display’ of Tüv Rheinland, an international certification organization based in Germany. The certification confirms that Samsung’s QLED televisions meet the global standards for the quantum points screen structure, reinforcing the company’s technological leadership in the premium televisions market.
The certification confirms that Samsung’s QLED televisions meet the 62595-1-6 standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which defines the application of the Quantum Point Light Conversion Unit (QD) combined with blue light sources for standard qled screens.
As part of the certification process, Tüv Rheinland analyzed the spectrum of light produced by Samsung’s qled televisions and confirmed that it showed a clear separation between red, green and blue, an important marker of color precision. This distinction is possible thanks to quantum points and may not be so pronounced on screens that use alternative materials, which sometimes cause a mixture of colors or a reduction in clarity. The results demonstrate how the use of quantum points by Samsung helps to offer an expression of vivid and precise color.
With the last certification, Samsung’s Qled televisions are officially validated as true quantum points screens, even more differentiating Samsung offers and strengthening consumer’s confidence in premium televisions technology.
“This certification objectively validates that Samsung’s QLED televisions offer a true performance of quantum points built according to international standards,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to promote innovation and strengthen consumer confidence while we lead the Premium TV market.”
The series that have received the certification include the NEO QLED 8K (QN990F, QN900F), NEO QLED 4K (QN90F, QN85F, QN80F, QN70F) and QLED 4K (Q8F, Q7F, Q6F) series.
The quantum points are ultrafin nanomaterials, tens of thousands of times smaller than a human hair, recognized for their ability to reproduce precise and vivid colors depending on the wavelength of the light. The method by which quantum points are integrated into visualization panels has become a key indicator to evaluate technological advance in the Premium TV segment.
On the other hand, Samsung’s quantum points technology has also been recognized by the Global Société Testing Générale de Surveillance (SGS) testing due to its excellence in the design without cadmium, a conscious approach to the environment that eliminates the use of cadmium, a toxic heavy metal known for representing risks to human health and the environment.
