Thanks to the YPFB UPSTREAM Reactivation Plan, the Churumas field was reactivated and now the Churumas well – X3 and the Churumas 4, which will increase an amount of important gas reserves is perforated.
Proven gas reserves increased to 4.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) to 2023 and a “greater than gas” oil replacement index is recorded thanks to the UPSTREAM Reactivation Plan (PRU) of Bolivian fiscal oil deposits (YPFB), said the state -of -the -art administration manager of the state, Mayra Campos.
“We have 4 TCF as of December 31, 2022 and 4.5 TCF in reservations proven in 2023, this indicates that there was an increase and a replacement that is the most important thing, a replacement of the volume consumed,” said the executive in contact with Bolivia TV.
He explained that these numbers indicate that some of the projects implemented, which were positive, managed to certify as reservations and have “a positive reservations replacement index.”
He said that the reservation replacement index is a guide of “how the consumed” is being replenished in the year.
He added that, thanks to the YPFB UPSTREAM Reactivation Plan, the Churumas field was reactivated and now the Churumas Pozo – X3 and soon the Churumas 4, which will increase an amount of important gas reserves, is drilling.
“And in oil we have a much higher replacement index than in gas (…). In oil it has been much better thanks to (projects) Yará will already bech at the most influenced,” he added.
In 2024, the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energies, Alejandro Gallardo, revealed that at $ 138 million reached in 2024 the investment in hydrocarbons exploration in the country, with the aim of increasing the production of the sector.
“Thanks to these investments, the industry has been reactivated that has been the most important and given the positive results in some of the projects is that we have managed to replace a part of the gas reserves,” said Campos.
