Six shots knocked down the subintendent of Edgardo Sierra Nova. He was civil so he didn’t wear his police uniform. That March 9 was outside a commercial premises in Bochalema, in southern Cali, when a stranger with another man shot him.
From that moment, Intense monitoring began with security cameras and testimonies so that in less than 50 days, the public force would place two men as the alleged murderers.

South to the East Caleño
Before homicide, the two men had followed the police. They had followed it, waiting to intercept it, as effectively happened.
The slopes led the police to the humble Charco Azul neighborhood, in the East of the Vallecaucana capital.

The captures
“The National Police made effective two arrest warrants against the alleged perpetrators of the Homicide of Subintendent Edgardo Sierra Nova, which occurred on March 9 in the Bochalema neighborhood of this city,” said the commander of the Metropolitan Police of Cali, Brigadier General Carlos Oviedo.
“It was through Three searchple proceedings in commune 13 that the authorities materialized the captures of two known men in the criminal world such as alias Chimpa and aka Didi, as well as the seizure of 12 cartridges of different calibers, three cell phones, a vehicle involved in the case and two firearms, “said the officer.
One of those weapons, apparently, was the same they used for the crime commission.
According to the Police, Didi had no background, while ‘Chimpa’ had in his record cases for theft in 2021 and domestic violence, in 2022 and 2023; None for homicide. The investigation still seeks to specify the mobile. The first version was that of an attempted robbery.
Men would be hiding from the authorities in establishments dedicated to lodging activities, the general said.
Those captured were made available to the Attorney General’s Office for the crimes of aggravated homicide, aggravated theft and illegal carrying of firearms. They are waiting for their judicial situation and responsibility in the facts to be defined.
After the alleged murderer of another policeman
In September 2024, a man murdered an mayor of the Police. After the homicide he undertook the flight in a vinotinto vehicle. Alias de Fausto would be behind the crime.
It all started when a lawsuit would have registered in the commercial premises between the stranger and the policeman who was on his rest day.

The mayor was identified with the name of Rubén Cadavid, who had 18 years of service in the police and worked at the El Guabal Barrio Police Station, in southern Cali. He was the father of a 9 -year -old boy. He lived with grandparents and an aunt, in Cali.
“It affects his family and of course also affects us as an institution,” they noted in the police.
