The Israel Air Force launched an attack this against areas near the presidential palace in Damascus, Syria, after warning the Syrian to avoid advancing over villages inhabited by the Drusa community in the south of the country.

The offensive occurs in the context of an escalation of confrontations between Druss militia and loyal forces to the Syrian regime.

The clashes, which have prolonged for several days on the outskirts of the capital, have left dozens of dead and injured. The air attack represents the Israeli in Syrian territory so far this week.

Military action also sends a message to the new Syrian government, which has been mainly formed by Islamist factions led by Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham, an organization previously linked to Al Qaeda.
