On the occasion of this event, the Vietnam ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dang Minh Khoi, granted an interview to the correspondent of the Nhan newspaper Dan in Russia about the importance of the visit, the most prominent aspects of bilateral relations in recent times and the perspectives of development of relations between the two countries in the future, especially in relation to the first time that the popular army of Vietnam sent forces to participate in a military abroad.
Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said that this is the first official visit to the Russian Federation of Secretary General to Lam in his position as the top leader of the party, and that it takes place at a time when the two countries have just celebrated their centenary. 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, as well as the 70th anniversary of the first official visit of President Ho Chi Minh to the Soviet Union.

According to Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi, looking back in the course of history, although Vietnam and the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today have passed through 75 years of establishing diplomatic relations, in fact more than 100 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh set foot for the first time in Russia and from here he found a way to save the country.
The peoples of both countries share many historical values. This is the independence, freedom and happiness of the people. In the light of the October Revolution, as well as the influence of the victory of the Soviet Union in world war II, the August Revolution in Vietnam triumphed and Vietnam obtained independence. After that, our people won the resistance war against colonialism in 1954, released the south and reunited the country in 1975.
In 1941, under the direction of Uncle Ho, 7 Voluntary Vietnamese soldiers joined the Red Army to defend Moscow and 3 of them bravely sacrificed their lives.
In October 2024, the Russian Federation inaugurated a monument to the three Vietnamese soldiers who died at that time, recognizing the contributions of the Vietnamese people to the common struggle of the Soviet people in the Gran Guerra Patria.
On the other hand, looking back in history, during the resistance wars against France and the USA., Tens of thousands of Soviet military advisors arrived to help Vietnam and many of them sacrificed their lives.
After the war, tens of thousands of Soviet advisors helped Vietnam build many typical projects, helping Vietnam to build the country in the first days. It can be said that the history of the two countries is very closely linked, is truly sincere and recognizes unconditional help.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, there was a period in which the relations between the two countries stagnated, but in the last 20 years, the relations between Vietnam and Russia have gradually recovered and have developed strongly. Last year, Vietnam and Russia celebrated the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the fundamental principles of friendly relations and the 12th anniversary of the establishment of the Integral Strategic association.
Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi emphasized that in 2024 and early 2025, the relationship between the two countries will be developed strongly in all fields. The most obvious signal is the frequent high -level contacts.
In June 2024, President Putin officially visited Vietnam. In January 2025, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited Vietnam. In the opposite direction, in October 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the expanded BRICS conference in Kazan.
In September 2024, the president of the National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man, made an official visit to the Russian Federation. In addition, Secretary General T. LAM had a very important phone call with Russian President Putin.
It can be said that telephone calls and high -level contacts have shaped the development of bilateral relations and fields of cooperation in politics, economy, commerce and exchange between peoples have developed very strongly.
During this visit of the Secretary General to Lam, the main leaders of both countries will be able to discuss the main orientations for the development of bilateral relations not only for the next five or ten years, but possibly for longer.
Vietnam and Russia are willing to deepen the integral association between the two countries, build more reliable political relations, more substantial and effective economic and commercial relations and narrower exchanges between peoples.
Regarding the perspectives of development of bilateral relations in the next time, according to Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi, in addition to the fields of cooperation in security, defense, oil and gas – the main pillars of bilateral cooperation, the two countries expect to open new areas of cooperation, seek new driving forces to promote relations, first in the field of cooperation in science and technology.
The Soviet Union (before) and the Russian Federation today are scientific and technological powers. Basic research in Russia is very good and has recently experienced strong development, going from basic research to applied research. Although the Russian Federation has faced many difficulties in recent times, the country has still reached many important achievements in the fields of nuclear, quantum energy, artificial intelligence, new sciences and technologies, green energy, etc. This is very necessary for Vietnam to learn and take advantage of the experience, technology and capital of the Russian Federation to develop the country.
In addition, Vietnam has restarted the nuclear energy project. Nuclear cooperation is also a priority area of cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
