Barcelona, May 4 (EFE) .- The 57-year-old man who died this morning in the fire of a house in Tàrrega (Lleida) is the writer, poet and artist Xavier Garcia López, a specialist in the work of Manuel de Pedrolo.
The Tàrrega City Council has issued a statement on Sunday in which it laments the death of Xavier Garcia, who worked as a senior technician in the Culture Area and was responsible for the House of Culture Marsà’s Sala Marsà de la Ciudad.
The mayor of Tàrrega, Alba Pijuan, in statements to the media, has transmitted her regret to the relatives and co -workers of Garcia, whom she has described as a scholar, “with a whole life dedicated to the world of letters” and that had also participated in the famous theater fair held in the city.
Pijuan recalled that the victim compiled and published the entire work of Manuel de Pedrolo, a writer who lived his childhood and his adolescence Tàrrega.
In the fire unleashed this morning, shortly before 04:24, in a house on Sant Joan de Tàrrega, three people have also been injured. Two of them -madre and daughter- have been transferred to the Arnau hospital in Vilanova de Lleida, while the father has been treated in situ and subsequently discharged. EFE
