Almería, May 4 (EFE) .- The forest fire declared in the early hours of Saturday in El Pocico place, in the municipality of Huércal de Almería, has been given by stabilized this Sunday at 8:00 p.m., as reported by the Directorate of Extinction of the Andalusian Plan against Forest Fire Infoca.
The operation deployed by the Infoca device continues to work on the land to achieve the definitive control of the fire, which has affected a mountain area with Esparto and Classroom in the eastern slope of the Sierra de Gádor, among the municipalities of Huércal, Gádor and Benahadux.
During the day of this Sunday there has been an important deployment of media both by land and air.
In total, more than 150 professionals have participated, including fourteen groups of forest firefighters, four Brica Brigades, five operations technicians, three environmental agents, a medical unit and three pombombs, as well as three aerial media, including two superpuma helicopters and a semi -marked helicopter.
The fire originated at dawn on Saturday, allegedly due to a dry storm that caused the fall of several rays in the area, as explained by the Andalusian government delegate in Almería, Aránzazu Martín.
The strong wind recorded on Saturday morning favored the spread of the fire for a steep area and difficult to access, complicating the extinction work.
On Saturday afternoon, the preventive eviction of about twenty people in the Las Balsas site was carried out, within Gádor, by order of the Civil Guard, although that area was controlled at dusk.
The Junta de Andalucía activated the pre -emergence phase (operational situation 0) of the Emergency Plan for Forest Fire, a measure that remains active by prevention, although as indicated by the delegate, there has been no danger to the population at any time.
With the stabilized fire, Infoca now focuses on efforts on its total control, which implies ensuring that the perimeter has no hot points or reproduction risks, before being able to give it extinguished. EFE
