Three dead and at least 21 injured people was the balance that left an unfortunate double traffic accident that was recorded in the early hours of this Saturday on the National Highway that connects the crossroads with the city of Cagua, in the section belonging to the Santiago Mariño municipality, Aragua state.
In the first accident a light load truck was involved, and subsequently collided a gandola and a bus from San Juan de los Morros, Guárico state, which moved to an excursion to the beaches of the Falcón state.
According to official sources, the first event was recorded at approximately 4:30 am at the height of the Agustín Codazzi Park, and the mortal victims of the road accident were identified as Yanired Paola Catari Guédez, 19 years old, from the city of Barquisimet Tiberio, 32, Carlos José Gómez Fonseca, from 19.
According to the information collected in the place of the events, the spectacular road incident originated when the driver of the light cargo vehicle, Chevrolet brand, 350 model, white color, apparently fell into a hole located in front of a renowned supermarket, causing the truck to fly and detach the engine, which ended up falling on the opposite track. The unit ended up impacting a light post, in front of vacant lands.
The truck caught fire and unfortunately the young Carlos José Gómez Fonseca died carbonized under the light cargo vehicle.
The second shock
The tragedy did not end there, since the driver of the bus that moved in the opposite direction was surprised in the dark of that section due to the presence of the Chevrolet 350 engine in the middle of the road. It is presumed that the unit took the engine ahead, or the driver tried to dodge it, losing control of the unit in which hikers were traveling to Tucacas. Immediately the bus almost collided against a white gandola.
It was known unofficially, that the driver of the Collective Blue Unit did not realize that the truck engine was on the fast road, Cagua-the Cowling direction, due to how dark that stretch was at that time at dawn.
The driver tried to dodge the iron block, but ended up losing control of the bus, which jumped the island that divides both senses and hit a gandola that traveled at that time towards the city of Cagua.
Several injured
This spectacular double accident left in the first instance plus 21 injured people, specifically among hikers from San Juan de los Morros.
The situation was quickly notified to security agencies, which approached the scene. Commissions of the Bolivarian National Police Terrestrial Traffic Directorate (PNB), Bolivarian Police of Aragua (PBA) and Civil Protection of the Sucre municipality acted to control the situation and save lives.
Likewise, several pre-hospital units of the municipalities Sucre and Mariño were approached, and others belonging to the Regional Ambulance Coordination of the Aragua State.
Prevention officials were in charge of transferring the injured to Dr. José María Vargas hospital in the city of Cagua, while the most serious were urgently transferred to the Maracay Central Hospital, including travelers and drivers of the three vehicles involved.
The deceased
Unofficially it was known that during the rescue work the security agents confirmed that unfortunately three people lost their lives in this tragic chain.
In this context, Yanired Paola Catari Guédez, who was traveling in the top of the bus, lost his life, even his body was caught between the bus and the gondola.
While Fernando Enrique Fernández Tiberio was seriously injured in the road event and was transferred to the Maracay Central Hospital. However, he died four hours after the accident.
And last death confirmed was that of Carlos José Gómez Fonseca, who died charred after being caught from the burning vehicle.
The result of the investigations by the PNB officials who carry out an exhaustive work to clarify this tragic accident that dismayed the entire Aragua state is expected.
Until the closing of this edition, it was known that two of the injured died, however this version was not confirmed by the authorities.
