The president of the Council of Ministers (PCM), Gustavo Adrianzén, informed that the National Police of Peru captured a subject, on May 2, in the Lima district of San Juan de Lurigancho, who would allegedly participated in the murder of 13 workers in the province of Pataz, in the La Libertad region, at the hands of criminals linked to illegal mining.
The head of the ministerial cabinet stressed that The National Government acted responsibly since it was known about kidnappingwhich led to the search for the missing and the capture of the alleged involved, key to following the investigation in this case.
“He found a glock gun belonging to one of the murdered compatriots. This track is being followed and we presume that It will give us more precise information than happened“added the head of the ministerial cabinet.
In addition to reiterating their condolences to the families of the 13 murdered workers, Adrianzén reaffirmed that, after knowing the preliminary news about the kidnapping of the victims, the intervention of the forces of the order was arranged, as well as focused tactical operations.
“At no time have we neglected our duty to fulfill the functions that assist us. Our National Police has acted immediately in the area“said the head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), during the presentation of the measures for the province of Pataz, in the La Libertad region, which led the president of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, in the Government Palace.
The activity was attended by Interior Ministers, Julio Diaz, and Justice and Human Rights, Eduardo Arana; the regional governor of La Libertad, César Acuña; the General Commander of the National Police of Peru, Víctor Zanabria, and the head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, David Ojeda.
Measures to strengthen Pataz security
During the event, the Executive announced the implementation of the curfew for the entire District of Pataz, the installation of a military base in the town, the control of the Powerful Minera area by the Armed Forces and the presentation of an order to the Congress of the Republic to obtain legislative powers regarding the fight against urban terrorism.
The measures also include the suspension of all mining activity in the province of Pataz for an initial period of 30 days, extendable, in order to facilitate the intervention of the Armed Forces and the PNP. During this period, it will proceed with the exclusion of all the reinfor (Integral Mining Formalization Registry) currently suspended.
