They investigate the death of a septuagenarian man in the fire of a hamlet of Mungia

The Ertzaintza investigates the death of a man this Tuesday in the fire of a hamlet located in Atxuri, Mungia, according to sources from the Department of Security of the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. The fire has been unleashed around 10 am, generating a huge smoke that has put the residents of the area on alert.

The first to arrive at the scene have been the agents of the Municipal Police who have attended the occupants of the housing adjacent to the affected. It is a hamlet divided into two. Several endowments of foral firefighters have also moved to Atxuri, as well as patrols of the Ertzaintza. As this newspaper has learned, the victim, a septuagenarian male who lived alone, was in the lower part of the house.

Shortly after 2 pm and after the relevant security checks by the municipal architect of the Mungia City Council, the access of the neighbors of the least damaged house has been allowed. It has been a short visit to collect their belongings since the wood structure of the whole block is affected. The authorities have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the death and circumstances of the fire.
