
La Paz (ABI). – With a view to the expansion of the agricultural border, the San Buena Adventura sugar company (EASBA), in the north of La Paz, managed to increase the production of cane up to 100 tons (T) per hectare (ha) through a pilot test in which 10 varieties were used, the state manager, Boris Alcaraz, was used.
“We are reaching 80 and 100 (tons per hectare) in performance; that is, we are going to improve yields in the sector, so in less hectares we will produce more cane,” he explained on Tuesday at a press conference.
According to Alcaraz, for the expansion of the agricultural border, Easba conducted pilot tests in order to improve cane production yields in the San good adventure sugar mill, through new technologies and thanks to the visit of a Mexican expert.
“In these first tests we have managed to raise the yields (…), we also have a new development of varieties, we have worked with CENACA (National Center for Sugar Caña) to see how we are going to improve the varieties,” he added.
-In 2024, in its industrial plant installed in the north of the department of La Paz, Easba produced more than 290,000 quintals (QQ) of sugar and 1.9 million liters of alcohol of 96 degrees, in addition to 13.5 megawats of electric power.
In addition, the state company generates more than 1,800 jobs between direct and indirect. The cañeros received Bs 2 million for their production for EASBA and the carriers that mobilize the product obtained Bs 1.7 million.
The company carries out the technical advice project to 120 cane producers and with its wastewater treatment plant contribute to control the environmental impact on the industry or the waste it generates.
