Three of the 10 day laborers who were arrested by immigration agents two weeks ago from an Home Depot in Pomona were presented in a cut on Tuesday for a bail audience.
The detainee immigrants are in a detention center in Calexico, about 200 miles south of Los Angeles.
“It is a sadness for all the families that are being left separated,” said Bernardo García, father of Yoni García, who was arrested in the Home Depot.
Garcia said that the last two weeks have been a nightmare, since he witnessed when his son Yoni was arrested by immigration agents.
“I was there, but minutes before I was in the car. I looked when they ran and looked when immigration was following them and grabbed several of our teammates,” Garcia said.
Garcia said he did not leave his car when he saw the operation on the morning of April 22, but the blow was very hard to see his son in custody.
“It’s difficult and it’s a sadness for all families. Many children are running out of parents,” Garcia said.
This morning several immigrant activists were summoned outside the Pomona Court, where they say that Jesús Domingo, Yoni García and Edwin Juárez, all of Guatemala, were scheduled to their bail audience, but that appointment changed dated by date by orders of the judge.
-“They do not have a criminal record. They were only looking for work that is a right in this country protected by the constitution of this country,” said Alexis Theodore, of Pomona Economic Opportunity Center.
Theoroe states that only five undocumented immigrants have been identified. Last week, Telemundo 52 spoke with Ramón Domingo, brother of Jesus.
“He [Jesús] He has no criminal record and we are only looking to work, ”said Ramón, who also said he does not have a criminal record and only looked for work. The history of the other detainees is still unknown.
Several witnesses captured part of the operation with their cell phone that day. Meanwhile, the National Security Department reported that nine undocumented immigrants were arrested during an operation focused on the search for another undocumented immigrant with a search warrant.
This afternoon, the National Security Department, but previously, they told Telemundo 52 the following:
“Several of the detainees had crimes, including child abuse, assault with weapon, migratory rapes and driving under influence.”
For his part, Garcia said that “what I ask is that he is soon released and can soon be with me and with the companions we were there.”
The activists told Telemundo 52 that the three day laborers are scheduled in court for their freedom audience this Friday.
