The Oral and the Criminal Court of Viña del Mar sentenced Judge Juan Carlos Maggiolo to three years as author of the crime of leaving the scene of the without providing help, according to article 195, third paragraph, of the Transit Law.

The fact is related to a clash left by a fatal victim in August 2023 in forests of Montemar, in Concón, in which a woman died.

The road accident occurred at the intersection of Los Pellines streets with Francisco Soza, where, as investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office, a Nissan car did not respect the passage, impacting a , which was driven by the magistrate, who fled.

In the case involving Judge Juan Carlos Maggiolo, the Criminal Oral Court of Viña del Mar had issued a condemnatory verdict by April 24. On that , RVL spoke with the president of the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso, Vicente Hormazábal, who had indicated the judicial and administrative principles that operate in this type of case.

As Hormazábal reported, Judge Maggiolo is suspended from his duties until the sentence is executed.
