What seemed like a real with patrols, drones, canine agents and even a tactical robot, was actually a drill. The Missionary Police conducted a exercise that simulated a hostage situation in the Cimarron neighborhood.

The scenario began with an alleged arrest warrant, which quickly evolved to a hostage crisis, which led to the deployment of the SWAT team and other specialized resources. However, everything was part of a practice to improve response and coordination times.

“It is just a demonstration, a practice that helps to have a better response in real situations,” explained Agent Swat, Humberto Maldonado.

Among the observers were the commissioners and the mayor of Mission, Norie González, who highlighted the importance of this type of exercises not only to train, but to show the community how the budget allocated to public security is used.

The police deputy chief, Teodoro Rodríguez, explained that in the year drones, K9 units, the tactical robot “Avatar” and dozens of officers participated.

These types of drills seek to keep the authorities prepared for any eventuality in the Texas Valley.
