The Swedish authorities reported this Friday of the arrest of four people in relation to the shooting that caused three dead last Tuesday in Uppsala. On the other hand, the 16 -year -old detained in relation to the murders has been released without charges.
“The suspicions against the 16 -year -old have been attenuated during police arrest. He is no longer suspected of any crime,” said prosecutor Andreas Nyberg in a statement.
Two of the four men arrested are 25 and 35 years old and were arrested Thursday for “incitement to murder.” A third man of about 20 years is in police custody since Friday early on Friday under suspicion of murder. The fourth suspect, about 45, was arrested on Friday morning, also for incitement to murder, according to a new press release.
The three victims, between 15 and 20, were killed late in Tuesday afternoon in a hairdresser of this university city located about sixty kilometers north of Stockholm.
The police have not yet established the reason for the shooting although, according to Swedish media, several of those involved had links with criminal groups.
Conflicts between criminal gangs in Uppsala
Sweden has suffered in recent years an increase in mortal shootings due to conflicts between criminal gangs, which have also affected neighbors Norway and Denmark.
Uppsala has long been the base of the two leaders of rival bands more notorious in Sweden, Ismail Abdo and Rawa Majid, but now it is suspected that both men orchestrate their operations from abroad.
UPPSALA “He lives a wave of violence since 2023 after the murder of the mother of Ismail Abdo”, in a revenge linked to the conflict between his band, Rumba, and Rawa Majid’s band, Foxtrot, the prosecution reported Tuesday.
