Kremlin confirms Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia to participate in Victory Day

Moscow, May 4 (EFE) .- The Kremlin today confirmed the next visit of the president of China, Xi Jinping to Russia, which the Chinese president will participate in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the of the Red Army over Nazi Germany, which is commemorated on May 9, and will sign several intergovernmental agreements with the Russian part.

“At the invitation of the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, from May 7 to 10 will make an official visit to Russia and participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of La Victoria in the Great War of Homeland,” said the Russian presidency in a statement.

According to the Kremlin, “during the conversations the main topics of the future of broad and strategic interaction will be discussed, as well as current problems of the international and regional agenda.”

“The signature of a whole series of intergovernmental and inter -institutional documents is planned,” he concluded.

On the eve the president of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, confirmed his participation in the celebrations for victory, which leaders such as the president of , Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, and his counterparts from Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Among Europeans, only the Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, and the Serbobosnium separatist leader, Milorad Dodik.

At the end of April the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, expected in Moscow for these celebrations, announced that he would not attend due to the conflict with neighbor Pakistan.
