Luis Tudanca will take possession of his seat as a senator for Castilla y León on Tuesday, May 6, after ten years of work in the community as the PSOE regional secretary until the February Congress, in which he was replaced by Carlos Martínez, and as spokesman for the Socialist group of the Cortes until April 30, when he was appointed representative of the community in the upper house.
Tudanca replaces Fran Díaz, who left his seat in the Senate on April 22. Thus, on Tuesday, Miguel Ángel Adrián will also take possession as a senator for the province of Burgos after the resignation of Ander Gil, who has decided to devote himself to the private company.
Both will be surrounded by the regional secretary of the PSOE in the community, Carlos Martínez, and by the Secretary of Organization of the party in Castilla y León, Daniel de la Rosa.
The Burgos decided to stay as a spokesman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group despite having been relieved of the regional Secretariat of the party after the congress held on the last weekend of February, in which it did not opt for re -election.
However, the current socialist leader Carlos Martínez gave free via Tudanca to remain in the group’s spokesperson until he considered, which has led to remain in the Courts of Castilla y León until April 30.
Tudanca took a step back after all the renewal of the group by the new socialist direction, which, has not had to give up changing the two members he has at the table before the absence according to the PP.
The Burgos will now be relieved in the spokesman of the Courts by the Valladolid Procurator Patricia Gómez.
Your designation as a senator
Tudanca was elected senator on behalf of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León during the Plenary of the Courts of last April 29 and 30, in a secret vote and in the urn that concluded with 32 votes in favor, 31 nulls-in the ballots set no- and 18 blank.
In this case, the Socialists had no problem carrying out the election of Tudanca as a regional senator for the modification of the law that regulates the designation procedure of the autonomic representation senators approved on October 26, 2022 and was promoted by PP and Vox, then government partners.
By virtue of this change, senators can be designated in the community regardless of the number of valid votes they obtain, unlike the previous system, whereby the three senators voted in block and only the ‘no’, the ‘yes’ or the abstention for all, which needed an absolute majority in a first round and simple in a second vote.
After his last session in the Tudanca Cortes said he leaves him with “the feeling of having given everything.” “I go with the feeling of having given everything, of having worked and done everything that has been in my hand so that Castilla y León had that future that I think he deserves and has been denied for so long,” he reflected, after he guaranteed that he will maintain his work for the community now from the Senate.
