European countries signed this Friday in the Ukrainian city of Leopolis a statement in which they commit themselves to promote the creation of a special court to judge those responsible for the military invasion of Russia in Ukraine, announced the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“We celebrate that the technical work of the draft of the legal instruments necessary to establish, within the framework of the Council of Europe, a special court for the crime of aggression against Ukraine has been completed,” says the statement signed by the members of the so -called Central Group, established in 2023 by 37 countries of the European Union, the Council of Europe and the G7.
Among the signatories of the declaration are the high representative for the EU foreign policy, Kaja Kallas; Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, and the rest of the EU Foreign Ministers who traveled to Leopolis to celebrate Europe and give their final political support to the creation of the Court.

The court will have the power of investigate, process and judge Russian political and military leaders, who have the greatest responsibility for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Minister Luxembourg of Foreign Affairs, Xavier Bettel, explained in Leopolis that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will adopt next week in Luxembourg formally the creation of the court, in which the United States will not finally participate.
