Prosecutor José María Campagnoli requested that a woman be taken to oral trial for the murder of her ex -partneroccurred last February in a work under construction of the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Saavedra.
The defendant, María Esther Arias, is charged with aggravated homicide and theft- according to the investigation, attacked the victim- Percy Rey “Chino” Trelles challenge, 42 years old- with nine stabs, stole personal belongings and then tried to erase traces of her presence in the place. A WhatsApp state published by the woman was key to linking it with the fact.
The request for elevation to trial was presented to Judge Alejandra Alliaud, head of the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 1.
In the brief, the prosecutor described the crime as a homicide aggravated by the link, which contemplates perpetual prison, and also as aft, since after the crime the cell phone, wallet and the keys of the victim were missing.
The fatal episode
The incident occurred on February 1, 2025 in a department within a construction work located on Lugones 4681. There the victim lived and worked, who served as serene and carpenter.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Arias took advantage of the relationship of trust with his ex -partner to enter the place and attack him while he rested in bed. According to the autopsy, Trelles challenge received a first stab in the thorax that crossed his heart. Although he did not die immediately, he tried to defend himself, but was again stabbed in his neck for at least seven more times. One of the wounds pierced the trachea. His body was found two days later by his boss, who entered the place after not receiving response to his messages.
A photograph published by Arias in his state of WhatsApp the afternoon of the crime – where the two dogs that lived with the victim were seen – was the indication that led the researchers to focus the suspicions on it. The expertise also determined that shortly after the crime, the defendant turned off her cell phone, changed the SIM card and disappeared from the scene for several days.
When he was arrested on February 26, Arias presented cuts on his left forearm compatible with the kidnapped weapon at the scene. The judge prosecuted the woman as the author of the homicide, a resolution that was confirmed by Chamber IV of the National Chamber of Appeals, which considered a combination of jealousy and economic motifs as a mobile crime. At the moment, the file is expected to be drawn and assigned to an oral criminal court for the realization of the trial.
