The Brazilian children’s actress Milna Brandão died at age 11 after suffering, apparently, several infarctions.
Brandão, who appeared in HarmonyNetflix’s Portuguese drama died on May 2, his family announced on an Instagram post shared on Sunday.
“On May 2 we lost our little girl, but I am sure that he is in the arms of our almighty father and in a beautiful place to play,” reads the post.
“The memories we spend together will remain in my memory. I will never forget the joy you transmitted to all those around you,” he continues, and adds: “My girl, I am already missing you more and more by not having you here and I know that I will miss you even more in the days to come! You were the light of our lives and I know that from above you will continue to take care of us and illuminate us. I will always love you.”
The publication included an edited image of Brandão, in which it appeared as an angel.
Brandão died at the General Hospital of Granjaú, in São Paulo, one of the three hospitals he had been transferred after heavy headaches, lack of appetite and drowsiness at the end of April, according to the Brazilian news media G1.
Initially, doctors thought Brandão had contracted dengue, according to his mother, Thays Brandão, to the aforementioned medium. However, after some tests, they soon ruled it out, and later discovered that Brandão had an urinary infection. They sent her home with antibiotics and analgesics.
The morning of April 29, Brandão suffered his first cardiac arrest. “Her lip became purple. Then they revived her and intubated her. From that day, she did not wake up again,” recalls her mother. It was then that Brandão was transferred from the UPA Maria Antonieta hospital to the General Hospital of Granjaú.
-“There was no neurologist. They only made a CT, and the doctors said they had seen a mass of 5 centimeters in the brain,” Thays explains, and continues: “But they don’t know if this dough was a tumor, a cyst, an edema or a clot, because they could not open their heads to see. And now that he has died, they will make a biopsy to find out what they were in their brain. They have not said what really happened to my daughter and what killed her, “he said, adding:” It’s an unknown. “
Thays, who also has a two -year -old daughter, remembers the days he spent in the hospital: “[Millena] It worsened, with two or three heart strikes per day. It had 13 strikes in total. It had never happened to him. One day he had seven respiratory strikes. Sometimes they gave him massages and other downloads [con un aparato llamado desfibrilador]”.
Since then, the three hospitals have issued communications separately, according to G1in relation to the death of Brandão. The first two – the General Hospital of Pedreira and the UPA Maria Antonieta – have expressed their “regret” for their death and have affirmed that an investigation into the treatment that Brandão received will open.
For its part, the Grajaú General Hospital, where Brandão’s brain death was officially confirmed, reported in a statement: “since its arrival, the patient received intensive care and the full dedication of the medical and welfare team, which spared no effort to preserve his life. The diagnosis was confirmed after the strict fulfillment of the protocol established for these cases”.
“The family was present at each stage of attention. They were kept informed with respect, acceptance and all the necessary support in this moment of deep pain. We sympathized with the family and reaffirm our commitment to provide dignified and human attention,” they added.
