The renowned actor Robert De Niro expressed a resounding message of support to his 29 -year -old daughter Aire, after she publicly shared her identity as a trans woman.
The actor’s statement came after a recent Airyn interview with Them magazine, where he talked about his transition process and thanked his parents, Niro and actress Toukie Smith, for protecting his anonymity during his childhood.

Airyn reflected on his experience, noting that, “there is a difference between being visible and being seen. I have been visible. I think they have not seen me yet.” He also highlighted the inspiration he found in other visible women to take the step of sharing their own identity.
The actor’s unconditional support and love
Robert De Niro’s response to his daughter’s visibility and criticisms no longer wait. In a statement sent to media such as Deadline y Peoplethe actor clearly expressed his love and unconditional support.
“I wanted and supported Aaron as my son, and now I want and support Airyn as my daughter. I don’t know what the big problem is … I love all my children,” said the renowned 81 -year -old actor.
De Niro’s firm position contrasted with a political landscape in the United States where the rights of the LGTBIQ+community, and in particular trans people, have been threatened and reduced by Donald Trump’s government policies.
These policies have come to deny the existence of more than two genres and to restrict access to the army based on “gender ideology.” Also of the future prohibition of these people in other activities such as sports.
It should be remembered that Robert De Niro has been a regular critic of Donald Trump’s policies. In May 2024, he described the then president of “clown” and “tyrant”, accusing him of wanting to “destroy” the country.
In this context, his daughter Airyn’s public defense joined his history of pronouncements against discrimination and favor of inclusion.
