The deputy of National Renewal, Andrés Longton, referred to the sayings of the presidential candidate of Chile Vamos, Evelyn Matthei, with respect to the military coup and the dead in dictatorship.
Recall that the former mayor of Providencia affirmed – in Radio Agriculture – that at the beginning of the military regime it was “Inevitable that there were dead”what was transversely criticized.
In this regard, the legislator -in conversation with 24 hours -ruled out that those sayings a strategy to motivate the most conservative right vote, raising that “Evelyn (Matthei) has a characteristic that has always maintained it in the first political line: which is very sincere”.
“She has no filter, he speaks straight a direct, and those things have pro and also against. Many times they say things that can be non -politically correct, but it is precisely the feeling of Evelyn Matthei, which has not varied from the statements he has given a few decades ago to now“He said.
“I think the way he said it was not prudent, but then he said and said it in another way to understand what he had said,”he added.
Longton site to critics from the right
Thus, Longton began critics of his own sector, noting that “If we intend that Evelyn is not going to speak sincerely, frankly regarding different issues, the truth is that another candidate would have to look for, because that is one of the peculiarities and virtues of Evelyn Matthei”.
Finally, he ratified the power of calling the candidate, which according to the latest Cadem survey would go on the second round in all scenarios, despite his questioned sayings.
