I have thought that the Waiver Visa program should be canceled for Chile. I studied in the United States, scholarship by the Hubert Humphrey program and I am grateful to that country. Chile managed to access the Visa Waiver program, because at some point in our history, we were close to entering the select League of developed countries. Unfortunately, this is past history and current Chile has, in my opinion, three fundamental problems that threaten Chile’s permanence in the aforementioned program.
The first, is internal insecurity and drug trafficking. The second is illegal immigration, which is related to the first. The third is the lousy education of our young people. All these factors have led to hundreds of Chileans have decided to go to the world to steal. Taking advantage of the fact that the Chilean passport is still respected in the world, these criminals instead of working honestly, make crime their usual “work”. The issue is the poor legislation, both in Chile and in countries that are victims of Chilean criminals. The last case was a robbery perpetrated in Washington DC, in which a high US security authority was victim, which realizes that his personal guards are inept and that the Chilean offender was more “skilled” than them. Additionally, this Chilean had already been arrested in London by millionaire robberies.
Where is the international coordination of the police? Where are the judges to condemn these parasites of society? There are hundreds of robberies made by Chileans on the west coast of the United States. Those who misuse the Waiver Visa program, discredit a whole country, so the elimination of the program would be the most appropriate until the credibility that we are able to control these canals are able to recover, that they laugh at the system. It is not so complicated to fill out a form and deliver information that allows access to the visa, as it was before.
Our internal legislation and judicial sentences have been weak with criminals. A guarantee system that privileges the rights of thieves, even in cases of serious crimes, does not lead us anywhere. Chile is becoming famous for being a country of lazy and now, thieves. This is sorry, but let’s be sincere in our self -evaluation. When going outside every day – foot, in car or in micro – we must be worried that they will not rob us, they do not assault us or do not kill us.
The United States trusted Chile and that trust is over. We do not deserve it. Let’s reinforce our police and, appealing to the human rights of honest people, we are loading against the beasts that are loose in our cities and fields. As a graduate in the United States, as a businessman and as Chilean, I recommend that the US government eliminate the Visa Waiver program, until the Chilean authorities order their home.
If the current program continues, every day it will give us more shame to say in the United States that we are Chilean, as they will associate us all with that scourge. Just as citizens must take advantage of opportunities, often unique, countries should also take advantage of them. In the case of Chile, we did not do the paste well. Now we have returned to the Second Division. To ascend we must deserve it.
