After less than a year of militancy, the Red Senator Edwards resigned from the Christian Social party (PSC), a few days after the community decided to rule out the possibility that the legislator for the Metropolitan Region was his presidential candidate.
“With a heart full of gratitude, I tell you that I have decided to put an end to my militancy in the party,” said Senator Edwards, who renounces a political party for the third time. In September 2022 he left the Republican party and, previously, he did it from national renewal.
“The ideals of Family Freedom and Rule of Law are still as alive as the first day. I close an important stage of my political life, I thank all those who welcomed me from the Christian Social Party,” he added.
From the Christian Social Party they thanked Senator Edwards for his stay time. “We respect the decision made, and we want success in the paths they undertake,” they said through a statement, in which they state that they will continue to strengthen the “parliamentary pre-agreement” and form the block of the “new right.”
On that path, they added, their own presidential candidate will nominate.
Who hardened the tone against the red senator Edwards was the deputy Roberto Arroyo, vice president of the PSC. The resignation, “is nothing more than the reflection of its actions within this community and is a pattern that reproduces from its old militancy,” he said. From now on, “we will continue with our convictions, (…), we wish you the best and we will turn the page,” he said.
Only a few days ago the party decided to lower Edwards’s eventual candidacy, arguing that they were looking for a candidate “who is available to the political project” and the “party conditions.”
