The early morning of this Sunday, A man was hit by a cargo train from the Ferronor company that passed between Antonio Matta and May 21 streets in Huasco, Atacama region, being with extreme gravity injuries.
The fact was recorded at about 05:50, when in the direction of the Pellet plant of the CMP mining company, the train driver realized that there was a man lying in the middle of the railway line. Given this – immediately – the machine stopped. Nevertheless, The braking ended meters later, without being able to avoid running over the subject, who was trapped under the locomotive.
As explained by our associated media Atacama News, product of the above, The young man resulted in extreme gravity injuries, affecting part of his body and one of his lower limbs.
The Huasco Fire Operation
Firefighters from Huasco arrived to the place, who see that the man had trapped his right leg, requested an expertise from the machinist and his assistant.
“We requested that he could move the machine about 20 centimeters, since one of her legs was trapped. The locomotive in the place that was the accident had a negative slope, the driver backed up, releasing the young man’s foot,” explained Huasco Firefighters Commander, Claudio Cereceda.
“After that, they stop and block the heavy machine, entering one of our rescuers to be able to release it and extract it quickly under the train, (to) thus be able to deliver it to the ambulance that was in the place,” he added.
In this way, The young man – approximately 27 years old – was transferred to the Huasco Hospital, where he could be stabilized, for later, for his serious injuries, be transferred to the Provincial Hospital of Vallenar.
