“I want to present the evidence to the attorney general of the Nation, hopefully tomorrow, which shows the sedition acts of what Leyva calls: national Agreement, which now proposes with extreme right groups and armed groups at war, which has invited some well -known people, and where the meeting with Diaz Balart is demonstrated, which he now denies,” he wrote.

The accusation of the president of an alleged plot came after the publication of a second letter in which The former chancellor Álvaro Leyva again pointed to the president of “a problematic consumption of substances and alcohol.”

“Mr. President Petro, you are sick (…) It was time to review your permanence in the Presidency of the Republic,” he said in some extracts of the letter.

In his first response, Petro indicated that Leyva “was charging” the decision of the Attorney General’s Office to withdraw it from the Foreign Ministry and disable it. But it went further to indicate that the letter published by Leyva “is not a gossip but a plot.”
“He says he wanted to talk to me. I never knew that I wanted to talk to me. He threw it for the Attorney General’s Office, what I blame. But I am charging it. According to the head of state, the plot is not organized by Colombians, although some nationals participate, and described these plans such as “an attack on the national sovereignty of Colombia, to democracy and the freedom of Colombians.”

Díaz-Balart spoke on Tuesday night and denied that he would seek to get the president out of power. He also accused him of consuming drugs and alcohol.
“@Perogustavo seems to be again under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both. He has reached the point that he cannot erect common names,” he wrote in X.
In addition, he shared “a list of some drug rehabilitation programs to seek professional help with his addiction problem.”
