Andorra will write next June 22 A new page in your idyll with cycling. The little great country of the Pyrenees will organize for the first time in its history a professional cycling career with the launch of the Andorra MoraBanc Classic, an appointment that will travel the seven parishes of the Principality and that, with its 147 kilometers and more than 4,000 meters of positive slope, promises strong emotions.

This Tuesday the official presentation of the event was held, which has two weight drivers: the corridor of the Lidl-Trek Carlos Verona, based in the Massana for a decade, and Gerard Riart, former president of the Andorran Federation of Ciclisme. The race has the support of Andorra Turisme, the main sponsorship of Morabanc, and an organizational guarantee guarantee: the technical support of the Occitanie Tour, that will move its final stage of Sunday to give way to this new appointment.
The exit will be given in Andorra La Vella, next to the Bicilab, and the goal will be located in the Coll de la Botella, in the Massana. An end point in height that promises to decide the race in style.

“It is the best possible date from the sports point of view. We want Andorra to be the world capital of cycling a few days before the tour,” said an excited Carlos Veronawho knows each curve of the route. “We will go through Aval and Ordino, we will go up the comella, and then the toughest part with Engolasters and Beixalís will come before the end in the coll of the bottle, a hard and beautiful port to decide the test,” he explained.
-On a competitive level, Andorra Morabanc Clàssica was born with a more than remarkable poster: 21 teams, including four World Tour sets (Arkéa-B & B Hotels, Movistar Team, Lidl-Trek and EF Education First), Ten Proteams (with names such as Q36.5, Euskaltel-Euskadi, Caja Rural, Kern Pharma, Burgos BH or the Alberto Accountant Pot Andorra
The race can continue live in Teledeporte in Spain and will have international broadcast, with coverage in France through France Télévisions, which will feature the comments of Laurent Jalabert.
The Minister of Tourism and Trade, Jordi Torreshe valued the impact of the event for the country: “It is a fantastic way of teaching Andorra to the world through cycling. We are a natural destiny for this sport and this consolidates it.”
From the main sponsor, Wiro Martín, Responsible for Marketing and Communication of Morabanc, also showed the entity’s commitment: “So far we were linked to football and basketball, but cycling fits perfectly with the bank’s values and with the image of Andorra. We are convinced that this test will be a success.”
The ambition of the project was clear in the words of Gerard Riart, who wished that this first edition is only the starting point: “We want to consolidate the test and that Andorra Morabanc Clàssica becomes a reference within the international calendar.”
