Cairo, May 4 (Sputnik). – The rebels of the Paramilitary Group Fast Support Forces (RSF) murdered some 300 civilians in the last two days in the province of Kordofán, in southern Sudan, the country’s foreign ministry declared this Saturday.
«Yanyauid terrorist formations (RSF) continue to commit crimes against humanity, mass murders and ethnic cleaning in different parts of the country. In the last two days, they perpetrated new murders of civilians in the town of In Nahud, in the province of Kordofán del Oeste. The dead number reached 300 people, ”says the statement.
Last March, the Armed Forces of Sudan announced the release of the country’s capital, Jardum, from the RSF rebels, and continue to attack their positions in the vicinity of Jardtum.
In turn, last April, the rebels intensified their actions in the south and west of the country – especially in the regions of Darfur and Kordofán – and announced the formation of their own government in the territories under their control.
Since April 15, 2023, fighting between the armed forces under Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, and the regular army, led by General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, president of the Sovereign Transition Council, are fought in Sudan.
As the International Red Cross Committee warned, the continuous armed confrontation could cause disease outbreaks and a fatal collapse of the country’s Health system.
The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said before the number of fatalities of the conflict in Sudan already exceeded 20,000.
In mid -April, ACNUR estimated at 13 million those displaced in Sudan, as many since the beginning of the conflict in April 2023.
For his part, on January 4, the Sudan ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Sirraj, expressed his hope that the armed conflict in his country ends in 2025. (Sputnik)
