Lima, May 6 (Eficom) .- The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Peru prepared a report in which it proposes to increase the salary of President Dina Boluarte by 122 %, which would win 16,000 monthly soles (4,377 dollars or 3,855 euros) to 35,568 soles (9,733 dollars or 8,570 euros).
The report was made at the request of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to calculate the amount that corresponds to the president for its functions and was filtered to the media.
The Boluarte salary is already slightly higher than the rest of the former presidents and, if the Executive approves this proposal of the Ministry, the president would win almost thirty -five times the minimum wage (1,025 soles).
The last Peruvian presidents, Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006), Ollanta Humala (2011-2016), Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (2016-2018), Martín Vizcarra (2018-2020), Francisco Sagasti (2020-2021) and Pedro Castillo (2021-2022), won 15,600 soles.
The report details that they have calculated the figure of 35,568 soles according to the technical and quantitative methodology and analysis and is aligned with the scope provided by the General Human Resources Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
This document also indicates that, compared to the salaries of presidents from 12 countries in the region, that of Boluarte is in penultimate place.
-Given the dissemination of the report, the Ombudsman, Josué Gutiérrez, was against the moment of increased crime that the country lives and assured that the population “is not to discuss these issues.”
“I believe it would be a nonsense, I do not believe that we are in an adequate scenario, or speak. I advocate for the strength of the institution and for the same fact I would ask the president, the president of the Council of Ministers and the ministers who have more tino, more empathy with the population,” he told the press.
Gutierrez added that he sees this increase unlikely, since there are currently other more important priorities, and said they must focus their work on the fight against citizen insecurity and the protection of childhood.
“Talking about the increase in soil would be the worst that can be done,” he concluded.
In this regard, the National Civil Service Authority (SERI) issued a statement in which it indicated that the salary increase is part of a progressive system of planning in the State Remuneration System. “
“It is the responsibility of the MEF to evaluate the amount of the economic compensation of the position of President of the Republic, this high proposal being for consideration of the Council of Ministers and subsequent approval by supreme decree,” he added. Effect
