This weekend, in Miami, the sixth date of season 2025 of the World Formula 1 championship will be held and, hours before the start of the activity on the track, the FIA reported a remarkable change in the regulations during the races.
The change, which can already be seen in sports regulations, occurs in the Article 55.14 of the regulationsand gives the power to the career director to close the exit of Boxes Street while the security car and cars behind yours go through the main line.
That is, a pilot can enter boxes to change tires or for mechanics to change some piece. However, the exit of it may be partially delayed to complete the passage of the entire row of cars that goes behind the Safety Car.

The career director can now close the output of Boxes Street during the security car.
The change in article 55.14 of the F1 Competition Regulation
Article 55.14 expresses that:
Having surpassed all cars in the return of the leader and the security car, lagged cars will have to travel the track at an appropriate speed, without overcoming each other, doing everything possible to reach the bottom of the Indian row of cars behind the security car.
And now, with the change in the regulation, the following exception that refers to the closure of the boxes has been added:
While these cars are touring the track to meet behind the security car, and under the discretion of the race director, the output of Boxes Street could be closed when the security car and the cars line behind them approach and pass through it.
Max Verstappen and Ollie Bearman, those responsible for this change
Logically, this change in the regulation has a reason and also an example on which to be based to be realized. And trace at the beginning of the season, in an incident that starred Max Verstappen and Ollie Bearman during the Australian Grand Prix.

Verstappen, protagonist of the rule change.
In Melbourne, Bearman was a turning back when the security car came out and, according to the rules, was allowed to overcome the cars in front and recover the return to reach the squad’s tail before the resumption of the competition.
However, Haas decided that his pilot enters boxes to change tires and he then resumed the race ahead of several of the tip cars, and just between the McLaren and Max Verstappenwho came third. Then they had to give it green light to overcome the cars ahead and recover the return a second time.
The idea of this change of regulation is that a pilot cannot return to track from the Pits and be in between leaders. So, in case of wanting to do it, you must wait for all the squad that comes behind the security car and rejoin at the end of the row, without the possibility of recovering the return. As highlighted, this update of the regulation will be in force as of this weekend race in Miami.
