Yuki Tsunoda has risen from the ninth to the sixth place in the classification of the F1 Sprint race in Miami after the penalties of Alex Albon, Liam Lawson and Oliver Bearman, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Pierre Gasly have also climbed to the points.
On lap 14 of the 18 laps of the Dry Wet race, the Racing Bulls driver, Lawson, Chocó the Aston Martin de Fernando Alonso when trying to advance Spanish in the fight for eighth place. Lawson planted his car on the outside in curve 11, which would become the inner line for curve 12 to the right.
In parallel, Alonso followed the natural line towards the vertex of curve 12, while Lawson persisted in the maneuver in the middle of the escape. The left front tire of the New Zealand brushed Alonso’s right butt, sending the world -champion against barriers at relatively low speeds, but causing serious damage to his car.
After the accident, while driving behind the security car, Lawson considered that he was not to blame for the collision, since he was ahead in the vertex, something that his career engineer confirmed. Alonso kept calm before jumping from his shattered Aston Martin, but clearly had a different opinion, stating that “he knew” that the clash with Lawson was going to happen.
An interesting and neutral vision came from the Haas pilot, Oliver Bearman, who followed them closely. “Typical Lawson,” he said. When commenting more about the incident with Alonso, Lawson explained: “He left with cold tires and I had already turned around, so I tried But I feel he had the wheels ahead. “
However, FIA’s career commissioners were right to sanction Lawson with five seconds, which means that he loses his seventh place. The 23 -year -old pilot also receives his sixth penalty point in the last 12 months.
“The 30 car tried to advance outside the car 14 in curve 11. Although he could completely be placed by his side, the front axle of car 30 was not ahead of the front axle of car 14 at the vertex, as required by the guidelines of driving standards,” said the commissioners.
“Therefore, car 30 had no right to space at the exit. Due to the track of the track, the car that is entitled to the drawing in curve 11 also has the right to the traced in curve 12. Car 30 was headed to the same edge of the track between curves 11 and 12 and collided with car 14 when approaching curve 12”.
A five -second penalty was also imposed on the Williams pilot, Albon, for not respecting the minimum time under the security car. Since the platoon ended up grouped behind the security car, this was enough for the Thai pilot to fall from fourth place to the area outside the points.
Bearman also received a penalty of time for an insecure output of Pits, which forced Sauber’s pilot, Nico Hulkenberg, to avoid it in boxes. Unlike the clash between Max Verstappen and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the incident did not cause contact, so Bearman only received a penalty of five seconds instead of ten.
These three penalties amounted to the Red Bull, Tsunoda driver, from the ninth to sixth place, which assured Japanese three points for three points in the classification with Red Bull. Tsunoda departed from behind after losing the opportunity to mark a clean classification turn in the Qualy Sprint on Friday, but on Saturday he had his reward for an early change to smooth tires and sneaked in the top ten.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who achieved the pole position to the sprint with Mercedes, and Pierre Gasly, from Alpine, also climbed into the points area, in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
