Esteban Ocon, from Haas, enjoyed his passage to the final part of the classification for the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1, but pointed out that the American team still has a job to do to improve the consistency of his VF-25 car.
The Frenchman put his ninth car on the grill, surpassing the Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda and placing himself at 0.07s from the Charles Leclerc Ferrari, to ensure that Haas could aspire to the points after losing the eighth place of Oliver Bearman for an infraction in the Pit Lane in the Sprint race.
Ocon gave credit to the Haas team for the changes he had made between the Sprint race and the classification, believing that he had “overcome most of the problems” he had faced in Saturday’s short race.
He considered that there were little that could have done, after having qualified to less than a second -0,620s- of the return of the pole of Verstappen.
“I think it has probably been the best classification of the year so far for us. We really turned the car in terms of configuration to try to improve the problems we had in the Sprint race,” Ocon said.
“The Sprint race was really complicated. We had many problems with the car and we overcome them. I’m still going to say that there are some more we have to overcome.”
“But honestly, we maximize the potential we have, which definitely feels good. It is a good relief for all, because we have gone through many difficult moments lately in Yeda. Also in training here it has not been easy.”
“But in this classification, we couldn’t have done much more.”
The set of point is “really small” for Haas

Asked about the result of Bearman, who ranked last Saturday, Ocon said that Haas continued to deal with moments of inconsistency with his car, even when the two cars rolled with the same set -up.
He explained that the rank of finding the correct tuning was still “very small”, but added that the team had project corrections to deal with those problems.
“I think my team of engineers has done incredible job. They can be proud of what we have done today.”
“But this is what we have to work, in our consistency. The window (performance) of our car is very, very small.”
“And although you try to put cars with the same configuration, sometimes we see great differences between them. We have to work on it, to have more consistency. But we have some plans for the next careers.”
