Once the location is defined, the Divine Valles Hospital, as well as the necessary spaces, the last four floors of the building, is the turn of making a first economic assessment of what its reform will cost to house the Faculty of Medicine. The University of Burgos already has a previous and provisional estimate, the result of the draft that has developed, which amounts to 13 million euros, amount that will have to be defined and completed in the drafting of the basic and execution project of this intervention that is about to go out to public tender.
The initial technical provision includes both the works of adaptation of the facilities and the provision of the equipment that requires a degree of these characteristics, whose complexity and specificity make them especially expensive. In fact, the calculations made in this regard range between four or five million euros, so almost 40% of the total budget would take, while the rest would be used for the execution of the work to adapt the current dependencies to the teaching and researcher use.
The intervention raised in principle affects the last three plants of the hospital complex, beginning the execution of the works by the last one, that is, the eighth. However, the UBU will also request the Diputación, owner of the property, the transfer of the fifth floor to the future needs that may arise and the intention of increasing the number of new places plan offices, meetings, computer and study classrooms, library, cafeteria and other services.
With regard to the site of the laboratories, the draft of the academic institution includes as a novelty its location in part of the ground floor that is unused of the divine valleys. There it plans to enable those of histiology and physiology, and those of biology and biochemistry, as well as the anatomy room, where practices with corpses are carried out. The decision is due to a “practical and security” issue for its ease of access from the street.
In the draft made by the Vice -Rectorate of the company, the need for the Faculty of Medicine is maintained has its own differentiated entry from that currently uses the users of the different assistance services provided in the hospital. In this sense and as confirmed by the person in charge of this area, Miguel Ángel Mariscal, the option of enabling it at the right end of the main facade is maintained, with forklifts abroad and direct access from the parking lot with the objective that the center is perfectly visible from the outside and has its own entity. However, it specifies that the final approach will correspond to the architecture study that is occupied with the writing of basic and execution project.
