
(Caracas, May 4, 2025) .- The Venezuelan government, through the Ministries of Science and Technology and Health, summons the Public Health System staff to participate in the Pain and Palliative Medicine Symposium: how to make a difference, which will be carried out between May 9 and 10.
“From the Ministry of Popular Power for Health, in articulation with the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology, we invite professionals of the Public Health System to participate in the Pain Symposium and Palliative Medicine: how to make a difference,” said the minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez.
He also said that the instruction of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, “is to generate spaces for the training of all our health personnel in all areas, to improve the quality of life of the Venezuelan people.”
The Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health explained that the initiative will be held at Domingo Luciani Hospital, located in Miranda state, this Friday, May 9 and Saturday 10.
All health systems must integrate palliative care in their practices, because they “provide relief to the patient and improve the general results of medical care,” said the minister.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), adds, estimates that 40 million people in the world need palliative care annually, due to aging, increased chronic and noncommunicable diseases.
