In a context that constantly changes, innovating is no longer an option. According to the most recent world Survey on Innovation, prepared by PWC, 20 % of the most innovative companies worldwide will experience growth above 62 %, while 20 % of the ones who bet less for rethinking their processes, will hardly exceed 20.7 %. In other words, companies that do not transform run the risk of lagging in an increasingly competitive market.
Faced with the above, the more than 7,500 new solutions that, according to the National Industrial Association (ANDI), develop every year the most innovative organizations in the country, reflect that the Colombian business sector, far from being left behind, has chosen to adapt to change and respond quickly to a dynamic environment. An example of this is to compensate, that has made innovation a transverse capacity, integrated in each of its business units. However, rather than incorporating emerging technologies, it conceives it as a way of thinking and acting that promotes openness, collaboration and constant validation.
In the words of Luisa Salazar, innovation manager of the entity, anyone, from a collaborator to an external ally, can become an agent of change. “Innovar is not a choice, it is a strategic decision that we have taken to remain relevant and stay in force in the marketmobilizing teams and co-creating with others to materialize initiatives that positively impact different sectors and communities, that is, we evolve to contribute to social transformation, ”he said.
The innovative compensation model was born from the inside, promoted by a culture of experimentation and intra -entrepreneurship that allows their collaborators to bring their ideas to test spaces, to materialize them in simple, agile and scalable solutions that optimize and transform the organization’s processes.
“Each of our business fronts has established its own experimental community, focused on designing and implementing alternatives that not only improve operational efficiency, but also add value to society. A method that we also enhance when integrating with other actors, allowing us to join forces and talents to maximize the impact of what we do, ”said Salazar.
Precisely, another of the pillars of the approach promoted by the organization is open innovation, based on the collaboration and exchange of knowledge and experiences, in this case with startups, universities, public entities, research centers and other companies of the innovative ecosystem, in order to co-create proposals that generate economic, social and environmental value, bringing well-being for people, companies and the country.
“We have strengthened a mutual learning network that leads us to try other paths, to challenge and question our own practices and to understand that in this ecosystem there is no relationship of small and large, but of large capacity. Large companies provide management, scalability, market vision; startups bring flexibility, cutting -edge technology and knowledge of niche. And universities have ceased to be only academic: now they are more oriented to the industry,” said the manager.
The solutions that have been born inside the compensation are complemented by the developments implemented by external allies, who contribute with emerging technologies and disruptive models that strengthen internal capacities.
In the financing and alliances unit, for example, last year the entity generated 31 new initiatives focused, for the most part, in providing financial tools aimed at people who, due to their profile, fail to access traditional banking. “This is how we create lines of credits that promote the financial inclusion of the population with less income, adapted to their needs, at the same time that we facilitate the resources to meet their purposes.” Salazar said.
Likewise, in alliance with Startup Fintech and through the use of artificial intelligence, chatbots and proximity technologies, compensate has launched other pilots with favorable results. One of the most prominent has been a predictive model, based on AI and Machine Learning, which allows anticipating delinquency risks and making more successful decisions in portfolio recovery management. Thanks to this tool, the potential delinquency index was reduced by 2.32 % to 1.21 %, which resulted in a decrease in wallet deterioration of more than 18,000 million pesos to 8.2 billion pesos.
In the field of health, the focus has been to improve adherence to medical treatments, optimize operational management and properly manage public resources. In that sense, one of the novel solutions has allowed the organization to reduce the diagnosis time of blood infections in patients with sepsis, one of the main causes of mortality in the world. Through a centralized blood culture processing system in its microbiology unit, which works with algorithms created with AI, microorganisms are detected in less time.
“Early detection, combined with advanced precision, makes a significant difference in patients. Every optimized minute translates into a real opportunity to save lives,” said Salazar. Through this state -of -the -art technology, the diagnosis went from 48 to less than 24 hours, contributing, according to internal estimates, to save around 10,870 lives.
Continuing with health, another of the transformative ideas that Compensar was to be Histart, an application that uses IA to perform clinical transcripts more quickly and precision, while verifying the information in real time. With this tool, the transcription times in the pathology laboratory have been reduced by 40 %, which translates into a monthly savings close to 4.5 million pesos and in greater efficiency of the human team, which can now concentrate on tasks of greater added value.
On the other hand, the integral well -being ecosystem model, with which the organization has been a pioneer by combining cash and health services in care, also shows its innovative ability to improve the physical and mental well -being of people, who through specialized routes receive interdisciplinary accompaniment. This is how physical activity, nutrition and accompaniment of other professionals are interconnected in a personalized way. “A doctor can order you swimming classes or an athlete suggest going to the nutritionist. It is a systemic approach not fragmented,” Salazar said.
Even, in environmental issues, creativity has given way to high -impact initiativessuch as the transformation of kitchen fats used in soaps, a solution that prevents the contamination of water bodies and promotes sustainable practices from home and institutions. To do this, the entity articulates the capacities of its human talent and other actors in the ecosystem.
“We will continue to bet on meaning innovation, which does not seek to accumulate technology by itself, but to transform realities, which is in essence the purpose of our organization,” concluded Luisa Salazar, innovation manager to compensate.
