The thematic areas focus on alterations of lipid metabolism and also diabetes, obesity, liver metabolic disease and arterial hypertension. The main novelties in the therapeutic of the hypolipemit, as well as in the growing participation and prominence of the new generations interested in arteriosclerosis and vascular risk factors. In addition, basic lipidology and vascular biology acquire even greater relevance, being the fundamental basis of our research and its subsequent clinical application.
What degree of international participation expect for this edition and how global collaboration in arteriosclerosis research is being promoted?
We will have the participation of the president of the Portuguese Society of Arteriosclerosis, with whom we have maintained a narrow link for years. In addition, the presence of other international speakers is planned.
Undoubtedly, the outstanding participation of the members of the SEA, with a relevant role in the European Society of Arteriosclerosis, consolidates our Congress as a reference at European level.
This year a plenary session for the best oral communications has been announced. What do you expect to achieve with this initiative and how will these communications be selected?

Given the focus in areas such as Nutrition and Primary Care, how are you integrating professionals from different areas in this congress?
Nutrition and its relationship with vascular risk factors and arteriosclerosis has had and will continue to maintain a main prominence in the SEA. It is worth mentioning the Grande Covián Conference, which is held every year at the beginning of Congress, in honor of Professor Grande Covián, an international prestigious scientist who contributed very relevant to the advancement of nutrition science and its relationship with the metabolism of cholesterol and arteriosclerosis.
In Congress, 2025, we are committed to a multidisciplinary approach, recognizing that the approach to arteriosclerosis and its risk factors requires the collaboration of various specialists. The participation of our working groups is fundamental year after year in Congress, we facilitate the active participation of these groups, giving prominence and space for meetings, where experiences and strategies are shared for more effective and comprehensive care. The Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis (be) has led and will continue to lead the research and clinical practice of lipidology, always with a global vision of vascular risk factors. The diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of these factors, as evidenced by the Biennial Publication of the SEA standards, is being constituted as an essential reference for professionals who are dedicated to the prevention of atherotrombotic cardiovascular disease with an integral approach to the patient.
The Annual Congress of the SE is a forum for the dissemination of knowledge, but also an area of exchange of ideas, of establishment of synergies and collaborations between experimental researchers, epidemiologists, clinicians and other professionals dedicated to the study of vascular pathology. In Congress, the meetings of the working groups of the society take place in which the activities, both teachers, as well as research and the tasks for the coming months are defined.
Likewise, consensus documents on key factors, such as lipoprotein (A), a lipoprotein of high atherogenic, inflammatory and thrombogenic potential, on which different members of society have worked for decades, but only until a few years ago has been recognized as a factor of great relevance to vascular diseases.
It is also necessary to highlight the close collaboration between clinicians and researchers in experimental lipidology and vascular biology, a result of which numerous studies have been contributed to the advancement in the management of arteriosclerosis and their risk factors.
