The stars are arriving at the New York Metropolitan Museum for the Met Gala, the red carpet event for which many of them will have saved their boldest and most theatrical looks.
This is the most important Night in the fashion industry. With a guest list of around 450 attendees, it is also uniquely exclusive.
It is expected that designers, stylists and leading models are among those who ascend the iconic stairs of the MET. But annual fundraising also brings together creators of tendencies of sports, arts and entertainment worlds. Do not look beyond this year’s various co -chants (Louis Vuitton’s creative director for men, Pharrell Williams, rapper at $ Ap Rocky, F1 pilot Lewis Hamilton and actor Colman Domingo) as proof of the gala place in contemporary culture.
The long -awaited clothing code of this year, “made to your measure”, was inspired by the accompanying exhibition of the “Superfine: black style tailoring” Institute, which explores the history of black style and dandism.
The MET says that its annual theme is designed to “provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.” As such, fashion observers will not only wait for many winks to costumes and male fashion, but also tributes to black fashion icons, designers and dandis dating from the 18th century.
“This year’s theme is not only timely, but also speaks of our rich culture that should always be widely held,” said R&B Usher star, a member of the host committee of the event, in a press statement from the MET.
