At the beginning of May, the Sonora Mothers Recording collective announced the finding of Six bodies in clandestine graves north of Hermosillo. On the site they also found various credentials of the National Electoral Institute (INE), cell phones, a notebook with numbers and names, as well as other personal objects, including wallets, keys and clothing.
Although the remains found are still under analysis, it was reported that some of the credentials found in the place correspond to missing people that have not been located since last year.
The collective reports indicate that there were three INE credentials that were located after a search day deployed between May 1 and 2. Two identifications are women and the other of a man.
“It is urgent that family members contact the authorities. We will continue to search here, until we find them all and can return home,” said the collective at the time.

The credentials found by the group are of the following people (for security reasons only their names and places of residence are mentioned):
- Ulises Montaño Vasquez. Residence: Hermosillo, Sonora. He was reported as missing on March 28, 2024 in Hermosillo, at 19 years of age.
- Alexia Fernanda Ontiveros Miranda. Residence: Hermosillo, Sonora. It was reported as missing on October 18, 2023 in Hermosillo.
- Aurora Herrera Melendrez. Residence: Yécora, Sonora. Unofficially it was reported that the elderly woman already died. She attended a small establishment and was dedicated to collecting cans. Although her identification was located on the site, she had no report by disappearance, although one of her relatives. “His son was finally located. They only knew that it was him because his mother was carrying his mother in his hands,” he reads in a publication shared by the collective on his social networks.

Given the finding of clandestine graves, the Attorney General of the State of Sonora (FGES) initiated an investigation to determine the possible number of victims and their respective identification.
It was reported that the inquiries revolve around “two search sites” that were located in the Kino Hermosillo-Bahía by members of the group “Mothers seeking Sonora”.
The authorities confirmed that on the site they were found human remainswhich are currently subject to analysis. The finding was made at kilometer 13, approximately 5.8 kilometers to the access of a thermoelectric plant already 550 meters to the west of a dirt road.
Research also seeks to clarify the death time and later “Inhumation in clandestine conditions”. So far the identity of the possible victims has not been determined.
