This title is naturally a fiction for now. But it is not too distant from the intentions of a president like Trump, who has not mentioned several times that it would be “an honor” to send elements of the US army to the Mexican territory to end, once and for all, with cartels in our country. It is curious that the aforementioned is produced in discreet praise to President Claudia Sheinbaum, calling her wonderful, charming, etc., while on the other hand he has no repair to launch a dart, as is the fact of considering it, without more, melindrosa before the organized underworld that, it must be recognized, it is true that it dominates whole villages and regions, and perhaps the other state. At the last dates, Trump has insisted that Mexico open its doors to its military, marines, national guards and who knows what else, with the explicit objective of “operating” with full freedom in cornering narcos and, if possible, taking them to the American Union, or such perhaps simply eliminating them.
Of course, President Claudia has not agreed with it. There was more. First of all, and as happened to the drumsticks to commemorate the deed of May 5, sovereignty is above all. He is right since Mexico is not within the framework of other nations in which US military interventionism has displayed its strength and ability to introduce troops in cases such as Panama, Dominican and, not to make the longest story, other seventy countries since the last World War. Mexico, until now, has not been the subject of such aberrant participation in its objectives, although it is not unknown that its “international” agents of the DEA, the CIA and others, in fact intervene in intelligence, kidnapping actions, and perhaps executions of leaders or groups that they consider enemies of their government or that threaten the security of their country.
One of the outstanding points is that the United States has even created laws that allow it, in an extraterritorial way, intervene militarily in specific cases, as would be the qualification of Mexican cartels in a scheme of “terrorist organizations”, which would access to send troops or commands to try to extinguish them. This is Trump’s vision that many of his fellow citizens share and that do not hesitate that in the face of the threat of dangers such as drug transfer and especially fentanyl, it would not be bad or look bad a direct intervention on Mexican soil. Claudia Sheinbaum has opposed all this. However, it gives the impression that little by little it is left somewhat isolated and perhaps even alone in what it truly means defending national sovereignty. The same army and Marina have agreed that military ships of the United States wander in front of our things and, even, it is blatantly mentioned that American drones cross our skies with total freedom and even in accordance with the Mexican Armed Forces.
For the president, the issue has a lot of background and some reality before the “friendlies” Trump’s considerations, a popular president who has collapsed to the passage of just three months of government. The bad thing is that he also has some reason in stating that there is a medrosary attitude to the cartels and, above all, before the officials who favor their freedom of functioning and operation. And we all know that this is happening in entities, mainly from the north of the country, in which an alleged peace and relative tranquility in exchange for permissive attitudes towards criminal groups have been taken as a priority.
Sheinbaum is, in effect, almost alone before these threats that have some reality. Come on, neither his party has openly spoken against interventionism. Their militants and political paintings seem more busy in interests of another nature, such as seeing their future, focusing their goals on the next cadres, including the next presidency to which they dedicate a lot of effort to place the son of López Obrador, or very personal issues as with Adam Augustus to locate his “candidate” in Chihuahua. Sheinbaum, on the other hand, is entrenched in his postulates, aims to distract with lawsuits such as the one he opened against former president Zedillo, or start cleaning the house after so much corruption that he already emerges. And not to say the problem of carrying out a judicial reform imposed from Palenque and in which the accounts do not seem will be good.
But, meanwhile, a Trump that negotiates issues of the level of undermining mineral resources in Ukraine in exchange for military aid, and other issues of its foreign policy, appears the head to accuse the Government of Mexico of Timorate before the cartels and, without a doubt, dreams that one day it could do the unthinkable: invaded with its troops to Mexico.
