* Senator Ana Lilia Rivera reported that military personnel will carry out activities related to the international cooperation and security policy
The Plenary of the Senate of the Republic authorized on Wednesday to the head of the Executive Power, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the entry to national territory of foreign military personnel for the realization of activities related to the international cooperation policy in defense and security.
Senator Ana Lilia Rivera Rivera, in her capacity as president of the National Defense Commission in the Senate, explained that the activities of foreign military personnel will contribute to the strengthening of the operational preparation of the Mexican Armed Forces and will pay the construction of a safer and more solidary regional environment.
One of the approved opinions corresponds to Operation Péekámba, multinational exercise of humanitarian aid that will take place from July 20 to 26 at the facilities of the Military Field Strategic Set No. 37-D, in Santa Lucía, State of Mexico. This exercise, organized within the framework of the American Armies Conference, will simulate emergency care derived from a high magnitude earthquake, with the participation of 176 elements from 19 countries.
It should be noted that Mexico currently exercises the pro tempore presidency of this conference, so its participation reaffirms our country’s commitment to international security cooperation, strengthening operational abilities to natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
A second approved opinion refers to the so -called Specialized Exercise Equipo 2025, which will take place from July 7 to 25 at the National Training Center of Santa Gertrudis, Chihuahua, with the participation of 120 elements of the North Command of the Army of the United States of America.
The Tlaxcalteca senator explained that this action is part of the Annual Activity Plan within the framework of the Round Military Bilateral Cooperation Table, and aims to strengthen joint response capacities against transnational threats and promote tactical interoperability between our armed forces.
“Both authorizations are consistent with the international cooperation and security cooperation policy, contribute to the strengthening of the operational preparation of our armed forces and pay for the construction of a safer and more solidary regional environment,” said Ana Lilia Rivera.
