A greater military participation of the United States in Mexico for the fight of the drug cartels was one of the requests that President Donald Trump proposed to the head of the Mexican Executive, Claudia Sheinbaum, during his call on April 16, according to the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal.
The media, which American federal sources cites, said that the 45 -minute call between both leaders became tension because Donald Trump pressed Sheinbaum so that American military assumes the fight against cartels that traffic fentanil and other drugs.
Despite the request of the American president, the president of Mexico refused to request Trump, ensuring that she will cooperate with the exchange of intelligence, but “would not accept a direct military presence,” according to the sources of the medium.
